Latest from the Janitors, Asps, Other Books, and More Books - SNEAK PREVIEW - Assassin I Am (More Books) - Fred has his wounded leg looked at by a country doctor.

Today’s excerpt is SNEAK PREVIEW from Assassin I Am, the next book up. It features new hero Fred Dupree, a lady he rescues, and some old friends from past books.  In this excerpt, Fred goes to a country doctor recommended to him by a friend to have his recently wounded leg checked out.  He is warned by the friend that the doctor has a sense of humor and finds out the warning was correct.  Enjoy and have a great day.

NOTE:  This book should be up on Amazon’s Kindle Book Store and the below web site sometime in the next couple of weeks.

At Fred’s request, Rosemary waited in the waiting room when Fred went in.  Fred had brought along a sheet of paper containing information on his leg injury and what had been done.  The new doctor looked it over and told Fred the cast would have to come off, for a thorough exam.  While he was cutting the cast off, Fred asked the doctor, “Say, Doc. I had a vasectomy years ago.  What kind of success have you had in reversing one?”

“Only tried it once, and the poor guy’s balls fell off two weeks later.”

“Funny, doctor—real funny.  When Maree gave me your name, she did warn me you had a quirky sense of humor, but I’d like it directed someplace besides between my legs…if you please.”

“Actually, I’ll give you the name of a friend in Phoenix who has done quite a few reversals.  I really don’t have much experience, so you may as well check with him.  He might even have his medical license by the time you do.”

“Okay, doc, you’re on a roll—what about my leg?”

By then the cast was off and the doctor was checking entry and exit holes over carefully.  “Your leg is looking fine.  The doctor who took care of this did nice work.  I’d say the cast can stay off, but you should use a walking boot for a couple of weeks, just to keep pressure off the muscle in the back of your leg.  It’s healing nicely, and the entry wound is as good as it’s going to get, in my opinion—unless you want surgery at some point to have a plate put in to cover the hole in the bone.  I’ll put a new dressing on both, but I’d say in ten days to two weeks, you should be able to start light exercising.  In the meantime, I suggest you stay off the leg as much as you can.  It wouldn’t hurt to change the dressing every three or four days, but it’s not a critical matter.”
