Today’s excerpt is from Toboggan,
Book #4 of the nine-book Janitors Series.
Russell alive but not a happy camper.
Enjoy and have a wonderful day.

After
Frank and Tony had gone inside, Russell, who was upset at the odor he smelled,
turned his head toward the lodge and looked to make sure his new foes were
nowhere in sight. Then he got up on
unsteady feet and headed for the tree line.
The shotgun blast had hit him squarely in his backpack. A few pellets had hit his legs, and one had
grazed his neck, but he knew none of these was life threatening.
What
had upset him the most as he lay still in the snow was the odor of whisky. He knew the blast had shattered the bottle
Sylvester had dropped for him. When he
reached the tree line, he took off the backpack to see what damage had been
done. The bourbon was gone, as was his
communication headset. He swore when he
saw that because he knew when Sylvester came after him, he would have no form
of communication with the helicopter.
His
lean-to tent was in tatters, his food was splattered all over what remained of
the backpack, and about the only thing of use was one of the small bottles of
liquor Nick had left at one of the two places he had left notes. One other thing only slightly damaged was a
small pair of binoculars. He had used
them to sight in on the lodge and the surrounding areas. He had only caught a glimpse of Phyllis
standing in the doorway, but had got a good look at Nick and felt certain he
had finally caught up with the pair he had been following. He thought of the irony of catching up with
them in time to see them shot at. He
hoped they somehow managed to get away, and as he looked at the shed and barn,
he guessed they might have gone to one or the other, so he played his
binoculars back and forth between the two buildings, hoping to see them.
